Budget Rating

We use a three-tier dollar sign system to indicate the overall cost associated with the activities in each itinerary:

$ – Budget-Friendly

This level features primarily free or low-cost activities. Itineraries include self-guided hikes, walks, and exploring natural attractions that do not require entrance fees or paid permits. These itineraries offer a balanced mix of free activities and paid experiences. Along with self-guided hikes, you might enjoy moderately priced activities such as gondola rides, entrance fees to certain attractions, or group tours. Suitable for travelers who are willing to spend a bit more to enhance their experience with some special activities.

$$$ – Premium Experience

Itineraries at this level are filled with paid activities and guided tours. Expect premium experiences like helicopter tours, private guided hikes, boat cruises, and adventure sports. This is ideal for travelers who want to indulge in the best activities Banff has to offer and are prepared to invest in unforgettable experiences.

Activity Level Ratings

We use a three-tier hiker icon system to indicate the physical activity level involved in each itinerary:

Easy

Suitable for most travelers, including families with children and seniors. Activities involve light physical effort, such as short walks, easy hikes with minimal elevation gain, and leisurely sightseeing. Perfect for those who prefer a relaxed pace and minimal physical exertion.

– Moderate

Designed for travelers who are reasonably fit and enjoy being active. Activities may include longer hikes with moderate elevation gain, biking, or other outdoor pursuits that require a fair level of fitness. Great for those comfortable with spending several hours on their feet and engaging in physical activities.

– Challenging

Geared toward travelers seeking a physically demanding adventure. Activities include long hikes with significant elevation gain, full-day treks, strenuous mountain biking, or other endurance-based activities. Recommended for those with a high level of fitness and experience in outdoor activities.
